Have a Spooky Halloween!

So, there is still some time to plan your Halloween party! We have collected quite a few tips on how to make fun and spooky snacks and decorations from anything you may already have at home.

Make a ghost of anything

(by drawing a face with food coloring/melt chocolate or placing googly eyes)

Yes, you can animate anything by adding eyes on them. Thus, any object becomes a Halloween object. Here are few examples:

EXTRA TIP: Wrap something narrow and white (like gauze, thick string, pieces of cheese, dough or glaze strings/caramel) around bread sticks/sausages – and together with googly eyes it’ll become a mummy.

Banana Ghost

Ingredients

200 g of white chocolate;

4 ripe bananas;

70 g coconut flakes;

a handful of chocolate drops.

How to

1. Melt the chocolate in the microwave or over a water bath. Peel the bananas, cut them in half crosswise and insert wooden popsicle sticks into them.

2. Coat bananas with chocolate using a pastry brush. Sprinkle them with coconut flakes and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet. From chocolate drops, make mouths, eyes and eyebrows of ghosts. Place the tray in the freezer for at least 4 hours.

Serve spooky drinks

What do you find spooky? These could be simply drinks of unusual colors or red drinks (which you could present as blood). Think about the details. For instance, put a tomato juice into syringe and serve on ice. Or serve any drink in a skull glass!

Another interesting idea for a drink (we found it in a bar in Japan) is to serve a drink in a bag inside a glass full of soil, dirt, grass and stones…Hmmm spooky enough. Add a straw for a guest to drink directly from a glass.

Add eyes and body parts

For a main course you could think of something easy to make but make it look gross. Do you have minced meat? Minced meat is sort of clay and you can shape it as hands, for example (add some spices, diced onion just the way you make patties or meatloaf). Bake the hands. Make pasta with tomato sauce (everybody knows a good recipe of that) or serve it with ketchup. This way you get yourself cut off hands with warms in blood. And you need nothing more that the usual ingredients for making meatballs with pasta.

Here is a complete recipe for eyeballs tomato soup:

Ingredients

2 tablespoons of butter;

1 onion;

3 cloves of garlic;

120 ml dry white wine;

1½ kg chopped tomatoes in their own juice;

950 ml chicken broth;

3 sprigs of oregano or marjoram;

60 ml of milk;

60 ml low-fat cream;

salt – to taste;

ground black pepper – to taste;

20-30 small mozzarella balls;

10-15 olives stuffed with peppers.

How to

1. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat and sauté the chopped onion and garlic. Pour in the wine and cook for 1-2 minutes, until almost all of the liquid has evaporated. Add tomatoes, broth, oregano or marjoram sprigs and bring to a boil.

2. Reduce the heat and simmer for about 45 minutes until the soup thickens. Remove the herbs from it and puree with a blender until smooth. While stirring, add milk and cream. Season with salt and pepper.

3. Make a well in each mozzarella ball. Cut the olives in half crosswise and insert them into the cheese. Pour the soup into bowls and put a few cheese “eyes” in them.
