Let’s discuss Hygge and Japandi today

It is impossible to translate the Danish word ‘hygge’, but it is commonly believed that it means home comfort. Happy Danes, who are not spoiled by the climate with hot and sunny days, have created their own interior style that brings warmth, peace and friendliness to the house.

However, unexpectedly we are not going to discuss Hygge. Instead, we will talk about Japandi – one of the latest styles that combines the main features of Japanese and Scandinavian design trends. The combination of conciseness and naturalness of the Scandinavian style with an oriental craving for warm shades, harmony and the absence of everything superfluous made it possible to formulate a style concept with the following principles:

Calm natural textures.

First of all, it is wood, stone, concrete, textiles. Minimal relief, glossy sheen and subtle gradations create an incredibly atmospheric space;

Functionality.

In this regard, the Japanese style prevailed. Hence, japandi involves the minimal use of things, each in its place and with a specific purpose;

Simple, precise lines and shapes.

They can be straight, rounded or angular – but without unnecessary bends, curls and zigzags;

Low furniture.

Low chairs, poufs, sofas, armchairs and tables open up a new dimension of comfort and take a fresh look at home interiors;

Natural palette.

Restrained shades, as close as possible to neutral and natural, create a cozy and relaxing space;

Minimum decor.

The combination of two minimalist trends suggests an appropriate approach to decor.

The predominance of living plants and the use of no more than 3-4 objects give the atmosphere an individuality.

Interior Design Trends for 2022 https://lifestylearchitects.club/interior-design-trends-for-2022/ Tue, 22 Feb 2022 18:19:37 +0000 https://lifestylearchitects.club/?p=2434

How does your place look like?

Tastes change during the year and we are about to tell you what is considered to be stylish in interior design now. The trends we mention will most likely continue for the rest of the year.

Key Takeaways:

  • Relaxed, native vibe and landscape
  • Home theaters, sport/yoga lounges and more functional space
  • 70’s style: bold colors and palletes

The overall trend to make our home a bit more than just a home is still on. It started with the pandemic and people still want to feel safe and comfortable spending much time at work not only living but working, exercising and entertaining themselves (just in case another quarantine will disrupt all the plans to go out). So, how do we make our house the most comfortable to stay in?

High-speed Internet

One of the crucial things that provides both work and leisure. Actually, almost everything now depends on the Internet. You watch Netflix, have a Zoom work call, order delivery and plan your vacation…the only thing you REALLY need is the Internet.

That is why you might ignore bad wallpaper design, but you won’t stay indifferent about slow Internet.

Quality in everything and return to traditions

Namely building materials, appliances and systems. Most people would prefer not cheap gray and white wall finish, but something Mid-Century style, for instance modern wood with a porcelain top of decent quality. Generally speaking, natural materials are going to be more and more popular: real wood, marble, mohair, linens etc. Trends in furniture are similar – buyers will prefer pieces with detail and some history: wingbacks, roll arm sofas,  and simple dining tables in antique styles.

Specials details on ceilings and walls

Ceiling gains prominence this year. Make your ceiling stand out and attractive by adding some structure to it. One of the trends here is lighting fixtures that add volume and height. They also could become some sort of an art display. To make the best choice of a lighting, use the help of an interior designer as it is not easy to navigate the correct proportions and heights.

People will also love to place 3D art and art on the walls to bring in to add intrigue and life to flat surfaces.

Maximalism instead of minimalism

Staying at home makes people craving cozy and comfy pieces like  rugs, furnishings, and art with character. Apart of incorporating different objects in one space, try mixing up the materials: stones, fabrics, metals and fabric. Another way to promote variate is to use curves instead of straight lines: barrel-vaulted ceilings, arched openings,  curvy furniture and walkways.

Bold colors and patterns: green and purple

Including more green shades into interior is a part of the trend to sort of bringing exterior in. Khaki green is a popular choice. Another favorite color is purple that acts like a base (some say it is a new black).

Top Baby Trends This Year https://lifestylearchitects.club/top-baby-trends-this-year/ Thu, 08 Apr 2021 15:29:47 +0000 https://lifestylearchitects.club/?p=1723 Those of you who have kids may wonder what’s in right now! Here we are telling you!

There are some ideas you may choose to stick to. But don’t take it as a call to action. After all they are your children 🙂

Unisex

Many young parents prefer to decorate their nurseries and playrooms in a neutral way. So, less pink and blue colors!

Gender-neutral clothing are also growing in popularity this year, some large shops even added such categories to their websites. One of the popular reasons for opting for unisex clothes is that you can reuse them later when having your next kid! That will save you a big part of your budget. Moreover, it is better for the environment!

Shop locally

These COVID times are very difficult for business. That is why many young parents choose to shop small and support local businesses rather than big corporations.

Pastel Colors

This trend is connected with our first unisex one. Pastel colors are great for decorating a baby’s room. Later he/she can share it with his/her sibling. It is not only neutral gender friendly, but also very calming.

There are universal furniture sets from Mamas&Papas that will suit any kind of nursery, no matter what style you are going to choose.

Nordic&Nautical style

It was popular in 2020 and it is not going anywhere. Clean lines, minimalism and light colors are great for starting discovering life.

Here is an example of the nautical themed nursery from BuyBuyBaby:

Jungle style

On the contrary, another style became popular: into the wild! Lack of travel you can balance with a fun nursery full of plush animals, exitic rugs and print wallpapers.

For example, these blankets from Cath Kidston are definitely in this year:

Sustainable lifestyle

This is the age of action. We have started switching to beeswax instead of plastic wrap, biking instead of driving, composting food instead of throwing it away. Speaking about little kids, there are some things you can adopt.

  • Get sustainably made rubber pacifiers
  • Apply organic skincare products for babies
  • Use organic cloth or biadegradable diapers from Ecoriginals:

Whatever you choose to follow, keep in mind that it is necessary to find the right balance between your own philosophy and current world situation.
