The most essential is the birth of the United States on July 4. And do not forget 1776 and the birth of the Women’s Rights Movement on July 19-20, 1848.

July 19 and 20: Anniversary of the First Women’s Rights Conference

Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott organised the 1st women’s rights convention in American History on July 19-20, 1848.  More than 300 women and men came to Seneca Falls, New York to protest against mistreating women in social, economic, political, and religious life.  This event marked the 1st public meeting manifesting the women’s right to vote.

This month is all about feminism. So, let’s think what feminism really is and why feminism still exists.

Feminism is a recognition that throughout history people have been treated differently depending on their biological gender, as well as on the prevailing understanding of gender norms. Based on these factors, our society provided an unequal degree of power to men and women. Views on gender and gender reinforced wage inequality, discriminatory treatment at work or school, and unequal access to resources and political power. In addition, most societies resort to organized and individual violence in order to strengthen these sexual and gender norms.

What is the best way to celebrate tolerance?
