Is there a way?
Do you have a very special piece of furniture at home that you would love to last for years to come. There are a few easy steps to follow to achieve this goal.
How do I clean my wooden furniture?
Soap and water! Take a cloth and some mild soap to clean it. Then rinse the surface with soap-free damp cloth. Use another cloth to dry the furniture. We do not advice to use cleaners containing ammonia as it damages the wood.
Do I need to polish my furniture?
When you clean the surface and some of the polish comes off. We recommend using the polish as it can protect the surface and make it look shiny. Polishes containing alcohol may damage your wooden furniture, so try to avoid such.
Why dusting my furniture?
First of all, to keep it clean. Also, when you dust pieces of furniture often you protect the finish from dirt built-up and grit. Use dry and soft cloth or brush to dust.
How do I avoid water rings?
It is easy – use the coasters with cork or felt bottoms! Or cover the surface with a good-looking table-cloth.
Can I put hot dishes directly on the wooden surface?
No, if you don’t want to see some dirt marks and stains. Use trivets or natural fiber cloths under your hot plates and dishes.
What else?
There are some less obvious tips:
- Try not to keep the furniture at the direct sunlight. Sun can fade the surface and dry out the wood.
- Make sure you pet-proof the furniture with protective pads and chair covers.
- Place coffeemakers in the open areas. The steam can damage the cabinet above.
- Maintain consistent humidity and temperature at home.
