Love Day is just around the corner. While we cannot travel much still, we can only learn some trivia about some love traditions around the globe.
This “Love” season we decided to tell you a story of celebrating admiration in South Korea. February 14 is one of 12 love days that Koreans have throughtout the year (each on 14 day of every month).
February 14th
Women give chocolates to men they like on this day. These men, if they feel the same way can give a present in return next month, on
March 14th
It is considered a White Day. It appeared for the first time about 30 years ago in Japan. This day the gifts are primarily white, for instance white lingerie or chocolate.
April 14th
Those, who didn’t receive gifts either day, can celebrate their independence this day. It is the Black Day. You are supposed to eat Jjajyangmyeon (Black Noodles) with other single friends.
There are other days for couples to celebrate throughout the year:
January 14th – Diary Day (Candle Day)
Korea is full of stationary shops selling diaries and journals with fun and beautiful design. People give each other new diaries this day to keep the memories of the following year.
May 14th – Rose Day
That’s the day partners and spouses give each other roses 🙂
June 14th – Kiss Day
Obviously, the day of kissing. Or maybe sharing your fellings and starting new relationship?
July 14th – Silver Day
On this day you and your better half exhachange silver rings with the plan to marry somewhen in the future. Often it happens before or after introducing each other to parents and family.
August 14th – Green Day
This day lovers drink soju (Korean vodka) and take a romantic walk in the woods. If you plan on borrowing this Korean tradition, you can make it a romantic dinner with alcohol (change soju to wine for style).
September 14th – Photo Day
Go to the portrait studio for a romantic photosession or use a cheaper option – a photo booth!
October 14th – Wine Day
It is self-explanatory. Go to a nice restaurant and drink a bottle of wine together with your boyfriend or girlfriend.
November 14th – Movie Day
In Korea they like to rent out movie rooms to enjoy movies in a company of the closest people. Alternatively, visit a regular movie theatre.
December 14th – Hug Day
This cosy holiday just before the end of the year is for hugging! In a cool winter day what can be better than spooning with your spouse or partner on a couch?
